Study: Large Percentage of Service Members Suffer From Sleep Problems

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- New research reveals a large percentage of people serving in the military suffer from sleep problems.

The study of active duty military personnel found 85 percent had a clinical sleep disorder.

Obstructive sleep apnea was the most common diagnosis, followed by insomnia.

In addition, 42 percent reported sleeping less than five hours a night, which is well short of the recommended seven to eight hours.

Researchers say lack of sleep could cause an increase of accidents and could also cause long-term health problems.
