CADDO PARISH, La. (KTBS) - KTBS 3 News has confirmed that the Shreveport Police Department has pulled out of the search for two bodies that allegedly fell into the Red River near Downtown Shreveport, Wednesday.

Shreveport and Bossier City fire departments and Caddo and Bossier parish sheriff's offices dispatched boats to the river and searched for several hours Wednesday night but were unable to locate anyone.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, all four agencies returned to the river to continue the search. Shreveport Fire is being assisted by a Search and Rescue canine on the river, while Bossier City Fire is utilizing a Search and Rescue canine on the bank. Caddo and Bossier sheriff's offices are using SONAR to locate any underwater objects.

Shreveport crews ended the search around 10:30a.m Thursday.

However, the Caddo Sheriff Office is continuing their efforts. According to a witness, around 9:30 Wednesday night a body fell into the water from the train tracks above the Red River. Another witness reported two splashes in the water.

The train operator with Kansas City Southern confirms what the first witness saw.
"There was a report from a bystander that they did see a body go into the water," says Shreveport Fire Department's Louis Johnson. "The conductor on the train also confirmed that he saw someone on the track, that he did hit the person on the track." Caddo Sheriff's Lt. Michael Gray is leading an investigation into whether anyone was struck by the train on the bridge.

Thursday morning, Gray viewed a video from the train, which showed at least one figure on the bridge but did not definitively reveal what happened to the person. Despite early reports, authorities believe they are searching for only one person.
