We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

GILMER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) — A former Harmony High School substitute teacher pled guilty today to improper relationship between educator and student, and will be sentenced Feb. 28, Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd said.

Judy Lynn Langford, who turns 36 tomorrow and is from Big Sandy, admitted to having sexual relations with a 15-year-old boy Nov. 29, 2011, Byrd said. Judge Lauren Parish of the 115th District Court received her plea to the felony offense, which is punishable by a prison term.

The case had been scheduled for a jury trial next Monday.

Byrd said sentencing was delayed only "because I'm in the process of finalizing some reports" from forensic psychiatrists who the state hired to investigate Mrs. Langford's background. Byrd said he wanted to enter those reports—which concern her life history prior to the case—into the record at sentencing.

Mrs. Langford, who is married, remains free on $60,000 bond and is banned from Harmony ISD property except to pick up her children from school, Byrd said. An Upshur County Grand Jury indicted her last Aug. 8 before her arrest, he said.

Longview attorney Edward Choy, who until recently was an assistant prosecutor to Byrd, represents the defendant.

The Tyler Paper attempted to contact Harmony ISD superintendent Jed Whitaker for comment, but his office said he was unavailable and out until Monday.
