(KCEN) -- Mourners of all kinds lined up along I-35 to show their respects to Chris Kyle and his family yesterday.
One of them felt a very special kinship to Kyle.
Retired U.S. Navy Gunner's Mate Todd English was the first to arrive by the City of Temple sign, waiting to pay his respects to U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle.
He said, "It's just my way of showing support for just a patriotic individual."
But it wasn't long before he was in good company.
Peggy Cunningham, who also came out to pay respect, said, "I just want to honor Kyle's family, let them know that we support what he did support him, for supporting our troops and I'm sorry to see him go."
English spent 14 years with four different Seal teams. He says Kyle was known as one of the best.
He said, "He's a very good Christian man, very patriotic individual, a true war hero."
Many of the supporters that turned out said they weren't just there for Kyle, they were there for his family and all our soldiers who have served.
Deserai Young said, "They risk their lives to protect our country and I think it's really amazing."
Becky and Robert Griggs also came out for the procession.
Robert said, "Our military doesn't get near enough appreciation and we wanted to come out and show our appreciation."
After hours of waiting, Kyle's procession came.
English saluted and remembers his time overseas.
He said, "Things that I went through when I was in Iraq, it'll bring back memories, but it's kind of closure. You need closure on things like this."
Then, without a word, he packed up his American flag and left.
He joined in line with procession to say goodbye to one of his fallen brothers.
