Study designed with FDA oversight shows antibiotic testing results from the EZ system are equivalent to the ROSA Pearl reader.

Charm EZ® system was shown to have equivalent performance to the ROSA® Pearl reader for detecting antibiotics in raw milk as determined by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Veterinary Medicine’s Office of Research (CVM OR). The FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition’s Laboratory Proficiency Evaluation Team (CFSAN LPET) evaluated the Charm EZ system using three National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments (NCIMS) approved tests: Charm 3 SL3, SLBL, and FLUSLBL. The data generated from these tests, run on the Charm EZ system, met the NCIMS requirements for approval.
Charm Sciences’ Vice President of Regulatory and Industrial Affairs Bob Salter says, “With validation of our EZ reader, processors and producers can have complete confidence that the Charm EZ will give them secure and accurate results. The Charm EZ offers many new features, such as an all-in-one test platform for incubation and reading of results and built-in diagnostic tools to help prevent operator errors.”
The Charm EZ enables operators to incubate and read ROSA (Rapid One Step Assay) lateral flow test strips on one convenient test platform. The Charm EZ reads the color from the ROSA test strip and automatically programs the correct test, incubation time, and temperature. If the operator should make an error during testing, the touch screen will display corrective messages.
