City Council approves financing for Rose Garden, airport upgrades

Posted: Updated:
TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH (KYTX) -

Upgrades to the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden and new facilities for rental cars at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport are in the works now … after the city council approved financing today.

For more on this story, we go live to Megan Middleton with our news partner the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Megan, what's in store for Tyler's rose garden?

Well, the council approved financing for an outside restroom at the rose garden as well as drainage improvements.

But there are also plans to possibly add more gardens within the existing 14-acre space, offer tours from master gardeners as well as a children's attraction and more sidewalks.

And what are the plans for rental car facilities at the airport?

The council approved financing for a car wash, maintenance facility and more parking so rental cars can be more easily processed.

The airport manager says five rental companies are at the airport … and currently the cars have to be driven to the other side of the airport to be washed and processed … in a 20-year-old car wash.
