Sheriff: Cabin not intentionally set on fire

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - The sheriff for San Bernardino County says his deputies did not intentionally burn down a California cabin where the fugitive ex-police officer Christopher Dorner was believed to have died.

Sheriff John McMahon says pyrotechnic tear gas was shot into the cabin which then erupted in flames. However, he says the tactic was to drive Dorner out, not set the cabin on fire.

Authorities believe Dorner died in the blaze, but a forensic investigation is still underway to positively identify the remains.
