Pope Benedict XVI delivers one of final messages

Posted: Updated:

VATICAN CITY (CNN/KYTX) - A huge crowd packed Saint Peter's square at the Vatican Sunday for one of Pope Benedict's final Sunday prayer services.

During the prayer, he asked those assembled to pray for him and the next Pope. The Pope is now going into a week long Lenten retreat.  This is an annual tradition of the Lenten season. When he re-emerges, he will conduct his last Angelus Prayer.

The 85-year-old Pope announced last week he will be stepping down on February 28th because of his age. Cardinals may meet before March 15 to choose the next Pope.
