LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) -  A Gregg County father and son are in jail this morning, after sheriff's deputies say they attacked each other knives and a chair.

Deputies responded to a residence on Private Road 2146 at about 8 p.m. Saturday. According to a Justice of the Peace offense report, 37-year-old Christopher Alan Peeler told deputies that his 17-year-old son, Braydon Alan Peeler, came at him with a knife because he didn't want his son to leave their home. The son, who called 9-1-1, told deputies that his father drew a kitchen knife at him first, and after Braydon Peeler pulled a knife from his pocket in response, that his father threw a chair at him, gashing his left cheek.

Gregg County Sheriff's Deputy Craig Harrington says that, because both men admitted to attacking or threatening each other with knives, he arrested them both on aggravated assault/family violence with a deadly weapon charges. Both men remain in jail on $10,000 bond each.
