LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Volunteers are invited to help make the Guthrie Creek and surrounding areas
cleaner during the Waterway Trash Bash. The annual event begins at 9 a.m.,
Saturday at Rotary Pavilion, 400 Baylor Dr. and ends at
noon.
According
to Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jane Burnett, "The Waterway Trash Bash
is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families, or businesses. All
scout troops are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Just register and
then show up ready to help."
Scout
Patches for participation in the cleanup, with water conservation and taking
care of waterways as an important learning point in the effort.
Cleanup
supplies such as trash bags, gloves, safety vests, and litter grabbers will be
provided. Breakfast snacks and lunch will be provided for working
volunteers.
The
Waterway Trash Bash is coordinated by the City of Longview and Keep Longview
Beautiful in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality.
