TYLER (KYTX) - As an innovative way to meet the
needs of students, The University of Texas at Tyler offers accelerated degree
tracks that allow them to earn a degree faster and begin working sooner, Dr.
Alisa White, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs,
announced.
These programs allow students to
complete a bachelor of science in just three years and include the flexibility
of a summer schedule that is entirely online.
Majors within the accelerated
degree tracks include accounting, finance, health studies, human resource
development, kinesiology, management, marketing and technology.
"Students are served by the
innovative delivery of instruction and scheduling of classes." White said.
"Encouraging and facilitating students' ability to complete a degree in a timely
matter is a good thing."
The accelerated programs will
offer the same courses, experiences and outcomes as the four-year degree plans.
Students can save money by taking courses online, and they can enter the
workforce earlier, which is good for the economy.
The bachelor's degree programs within the College of
Business and Technology prepare students for careers in business administration,
human resource development and technology.
"Our new 3-year degree program will benefit everybody.
The program will allow students to enter the workforce, start their careers and
begin earning financial returns on their education a full year earlier than
traditional programs allow. I am thrilled that UT Tyler is once again proving to be a statewide
leader in the effort to modernize higher education," said Dr. Harold Doty,
College of Business and Technology dean.
The bachelor's degree programs
within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences prepare students for careers
in exercise-related professions, including positions in clinical and business
settings, as well as graduate and professional studies.
"These accelerated programs
demonstrate that The University of Texas at Tyler is not only innovative in the
manner in which we offer degree programs, but that we are also both very
sensitive to the rising costs of an outstanding college education as well as to
the workforce needs of the East Texas community," said Dr. Scott Marzilli,
College of Nursing and Health Sciences interim dean.
