Tyler
– Tyler ISD received a total of 30 awards for distinguished
achievement in school communications. The awards were announced
at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards
Celebration on February 20 during the association's annual
conference in Corpus Christi, Texas. Of the more than two dozen
accolades, TISD-TV staff members earned 21 distinguished honors, the
highest number earned by the district's educational broadcast
department.
"I
am extremely humbled that the TISD-TV department was one of the top
three school districts in the state to earn recognition in the video
and cable TV categories,"
said Angela Jenkins, Coordinator
of TISD-TV & Video Operations.
"Our purpose as a video production team is to tell the wonderful
stories taking place in Tyler ISD every day, and to be recognized at
the same level as some of the largest school districts in the state
is an added bonus to sharing the good news of our district."
Each
year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education
foundations, education associations and organizations for their
outstanding work in both print and electronic media.
Entries
that were selected as best in the state were honored with Bronze
Star, Silver Star, Gold Star, and Best of Category Awards.
Entries
were submitted from the following personnel in the
Communications/Public Relations Department and TISD-TV: Jessica Poe,
