Bossier City shoplifting call leads to drug arrests

BOSSIER CITY (KYTX) -

Bossier City police have arrested four people from Vivian, Louisiana on a drug charges after being called to a local store in reference to a shoplifting call.

Officers responded to the Walmart in the 2500 block of Airline Drive Tuesday afternoon in reference to four individuals suspected of shoplifting. One of them, Dexter Long Jr, age 25, was detained at the store however the three other suspects – Angela R. Lewis, age 27, Lea A. Whittington, age 27, and Jerome L. Bradford, age 31, fled in Long's car.

Upon receiving a description of the car, a BCPD K-9 officer executed a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 2500 block of Airline Drive. During the investigation officers with the assistance of a police dog located a large amount of narcotics inside the car. The drugs seized included 127 grams of marijuana and more than 100 tablets combined of hydrocodone, Xanax and Valium. Officers also recovered $2200 in cash. The Bossier Combined Narcotics Task Force assisted with the investigation which resulted in the following charges: 

Angela R. Lewis – Possession of schedule I controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of schedule III controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lea A. Whittington - Possession of schedule I cds with intent to distribute, possession of schedule III cds with intent to distribute, possession of schedule IV cds, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper display of license plate.

Jerome L. Bradford - Possession of schedule I cds with intent to distribute, possession of schedule III cds with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dexter Long Jr. - Theft of goods, Of Goods, possession of schedule IV cds and introducing contraband into a jail.

The suspects were booked into the Bossier City Jail and later transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility.
