We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

(CBS) - Babies born to mothers who are overweight or obese already show signs of heart disease. That's the findings of a small study out of Australia. Researchers found the walls of the aorta were already thickened in the newborns of mothers who weighed too much. The higher the mother's weight, the greater the thickness, regardless of how much the babies weighed at birth. Arterial thickening is a known risk factor for later heart disease and stroke.

(CBS) - Researchers have discovered that five major psychiatric disorders share common genetic risk factors. The largest ever genetic study of psychiatric illness found autism, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and schizophrenia shared several risk factors. In particular, researchers found two genes involved in the balance of calcium in the brain may play a role in some of the disorders. They say the discovery could lead to new treatments.

(CBS) - Getting up and moving around may be even more important than exercising when it comes to lowering your risk of type 2 diabetes. Researchers in Great Britain found that sedentary time, which is time spent sitting or lying down, was associated with several diabetes risk factors. They say patients should reduce sitting time for a total of 90 minutes a day. Rather than simply exercising regularly.
