TYLER (KYTX) - During the City Manager update
at the Tyler City Council Meeting today, City Manager Mark McDaniel announced
the appointment of a new communications manager, Kristi
Boyett.
Boyett has
worked for the City of Tyler for more than seven years, most recently as the
manager for organizational development. In that role she oversaw operations of
the City University Department, the city's employee training program which
includes New Employee Orientation, Leadership Academy, and the Mayor's Citizens
Academy. She also serves on the city's Performance Excellence Program team, is a
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, the city's wellness committee chair and helped start
the city's Toastmasters club, Blueprint Toasters, in 2009.
Boyett
started her career with the city in 2005 as the special projects coordinator for
the Solid Waste Department where she planned and organized environmental
initiatives and events with the Keep Tyler Beautiful Board.
Also, she
currently serves as the Publicity Chair for Women in Tyler, Bethesda Alliance
Community Awareness Chair, Public Relations Officer for District 50 Toastmasters
and is in Class 26 of Leadership Tyler.
Boyett grew
up in Irving and moved to Tyler to be a Tyler Junior College Apache Belle. She
earned an Associate's Degree from TJC and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from
the University of North Texas, where she served as Editor in Chief of the award
winning North Texas Daily newspaper. Before she worked for the City of
Tyler, she was the feature writer for the Tyler Morning Telegraph
newspaper for three years.
