Former Upshur County commissioner, son headed to trial soon

UPSHUR COUNTY (KYTX) - A pre-trial date of April 5 has been set for former Upshur County commissioner Lloyd Crabtree and his son, Todd.

According to District Attorney Billy Byrd's office, jury selection is set for April 29, however the trial date has not been confirmed by Byrd.

Crabtree faces five felony indictments, including three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer; one count of taking a weapon from a peace officer and one count of unlawful restraint with a deadly weapon.

Todd Crabtree faces three felony charges including one count of aggravated assault on a peace officer; one count of taking a weapon from a peace officer; and one count of unlawful restraint with a deadly weapon.

The incident took place Oct. 6, 2012, when a game warden was allegedly disarmed and detained by Crabtree and his son during a check for hunting violations, documents show.
