Green Street Renovations

Green Street Renovations

Posted: Updated:

Salon Pink is just a block away from this section of Green Street from Cotton to Tyler under construction in Longview since October.

Salon Pink employee Hannah Anderson says it has been giving workers and customers headaches for months.

"It's just frustrating for our customers, especially since there is no handicapped paring directly in front it can be problem" - Hannah Anderson

The 6 million dollar street resurfacing and storm drainage project was initially scheduled to be completed in May.

But City Spokesman Shawn Hara says, the street is so old,  It's presenting unexpected challenges and the weather hasn't cooperated either.

"We have had some delays due to rain and it is a hundred year old area... and we found some old utility lines that pushed us back" - Shawn Hara

"Shawn Hara says the Green Street project is intended to make it uniform with the rest of the intersections in Longview and will be finished sometime in June" - Kevin Boyce

"In this historic part of downtown you see we have a lot of red bricks, and overtime they have deterieted. So this is just to update, and give it a more consistent look downtown." - Shawn Hara

Voter approved bonds are paying for the project.

Along with the street renovations, crews are raising this overpass a foot.

But after this section is complete, there's more work to do.

" The rest of Green street will also undergo renovations that wont be finished til December." - Hara

Anderson says she will just bite the bullet for now.

"Itll be worth it in the end, it's just frustrating right now." - Anderson
