Longview PD warns of Medicare card scam in the area

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW (KYTXT) - Longview Police Department wants citizens to be aware of a new scam involving someone calling the victim on the telephone and telling them they are going to be receiving a new Medicare card in the mail.

The caller asks the victim to verify their information by telling the caller their social security number and bank account information.

Longview PD is asking people to never give out personal information over the phone to anyone.

If you feel that the call may be a scam get as much information about the caller as possible and call police to make a report. Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America.

Don't fall victim to scams by giving out your personal information.
