4-year-old falls 3 stories; lands on feet

Posted: Updated:

AURORA, CO (CNN) - A Colorado four-year-old is amazingly ok after falling out of a third-story apartment window and landing on his feet.

Dylan's mother Jessica was shampooing her carpets when it happened. She had moved her couch to the wall when Dylan climbed on it to talk through the window to his downstairs neighbors. A photo from the third story shows just how far Dylan fell. The screen he broke through suffered more damaged than he did.

"Oh my God I feel beyond lucky! There must have been something watching over Dylan that day. I didn't know what I was going to go down to, like a child who was just laying there or a child with blood coming out of him I didn't know what I was going to see when I got down to the ground floor," says Dylan's Mother, Jessica Hayes.

Dylan was only hospitalized for just 20 hours. He wore a neck brace as a precaution but was released with barely a scratch. Dylan's mother says she moved out of the apartment complex and is looking for a new place -- on the first floor.
