Mostly sunny skies expected this week; rain forecast for weekend

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Very dry air is in place across East Texas. Skies will remain mostly sunny through the afternoon with a north wind less than 10 mph. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s.

High clouds will move over the area tonight, but sunny skies will return Thursday. The weather looks dry until Saturday when there will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The chance of rain will increase to 40 percent Saturday night and 50 percent Sunday. The rain will end Sunday night after a cold front moves through. High temperatures will warm into the 60s Thursday and Friday, into the low 70s Saturday and drop back into the 60s Sunday through Wednesday. Lows will drop to the mid 30s Thursday morning, climb into the 40s Friday and reach the 50s over the weekend.
