Wife Allegedly Shoots Husband, Sam Lawson

Posted: Updated:

Police say it happened inside this home on Pam Street in the laundry room.

Public information officer Kristi Brian says 70-year-old Ina Lawson called police after she and her husband got into a heated argument and she pulled a handgun on her husband, Sam Lawson, shooting him.

"When we arrived, there had been one victim that had been shot and that victim was transported to good shepherd medical center with serious injuries" - Kristie Brian, Longview Police Department

police arrested Ina -- and say she's been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

"Police say the victim was 25 year Justice of the Peace Sam Lawson, who's wound wasn't life threatening but still very serious" - Kevin Boyce

I attempted to talk to neighbors about the couple  no one wanted to speak about what happened but Sam is well known in the community.

He was elected in 1987 for Precinct Four in Longview.

And had 3 decades of law enforcement experience before that.

Police say Lawson remains in critical condition at Good Sheperd hospital.

"We believe it originated from a domestic dispute" - Brian

What they believe, was a fight gone wrong between a couple married more than 40 years.
