Press Release from Harrison County Sheriff's Office:

Newest member of Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Tom McCool has added a new member to the Sheriff's Office staff. Max is a 2 year old yellow Labrador retriever that is trained in narcotic detection and tracking. Max came to the Sheriff's Office through a program partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor, Laredo Job Corps. Specific dogs are trained at the Laredo facility and then suitable agencies and handlers are paired with the trained dogs. Many of the dogs trained at the facility are teamed with military troops and deployed throughout the world. A recent donation from Summit United Methodist Church of Marshall and the Harrison County Humane Society assisted with the process of securing this K-9 member.

Max is partnered with Corporal Brandon Headrick and will live with him as a member of his family. Sheriff McCool stated "Max is very proficient in drug detection and tracking and was being sought by 6 other agencies. We were very fortunate to have been picked by the Job Corps training facility as the recipient for this program". Corporal Headrick and Max will continue training through the National Narcotic Drug Dog Association for certifications. Corporal Headrick has been a member of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office since March of 2005 and he states he is excited to have the opportunity to work in the K9 section.
