2 arrested in Rusk County for copper theft

RUSK COUNTY (KYTX) - Two arrests were made in Rusk County following an on going investigation of copper thefts in the area.

On Tuesday March 19, 2013 at approximately 4:45 p.m. the Rusk County Sheriff's Office executed an evidentiary search warrant at a home at 11893 FM 2151 in Henderson.

Investigators seized transformer tanks, cores, ground wires, meters, clamps, fuse doors, copper and aluminum lines from the home. Also found on the property was a stolen gun, 2005 Dodge pick-up, drug paraphernalia and less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

Jason Barley, 36, and 26-year-old Ashley Story were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by felon, possession of marijuana and theft of property.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Department were assisted by Judge Clay Gossett, Rusk County District Attorney's Office, DPS, Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force and Champion EMS.
