Central Texans are happy about the recent assault weapons ban being dropped, but they're not 100 percent relieved just yet.
Although this particular ban is off the table, they're not sure about what other gun bans could be proposed next.
Gun control advocates said they're focusing on reducing gun violence.
But, gun owners said their not the ones causing the problems, so they aren't the ones that should be punished.
Gun owners around the nation have had their sights set on one thing lately.
New gun control measures, that they said would take away their Second Amendment rights.
"I don't think they should ban any assault rifles or any rifles at all, you know because it's our Second Amendment right," said Central Texas gun owner Ray Ellis.
That proposed bill would have put a total ban on military-style assault weapons.
But it didn't have enough support in the senate, with less than 40 votes.
Many gun owners said law abiding citizens aren't the ones committing the crimes, and that criminals will still find a way to get their hands on high-powered guns.
"Even though they do ban guns, they're still going to find guns, just like drugs," said Ellis.
Which is more reason they want to keep their weapons, for protection.
"It's something we thought would happen simply because they weren't going to get enough support from us to support that," said Weber's Guns Manager Ray Kallus.
Kallus said many of his customers believe the government simply disregards the Second Amendment.
"The Second Amendment was just one of the things on the constitution that they were overbearing on," said Kallus.
And if gun bans are truly about preventing mass shootings like the sandy hook massacre, Ellis said there may be a better way to handle the situation.
"They could have people like cops and stuff at schools, you know security guards. 20 stuff like that cause I don't think anybody was there to stop them,"
Which he said would please both gun owners and parents.
