Bodies of marines killed flown home to families

Posted: Updated:

RENO, NV (CNN) - The flag-draped caskets of seven Marines killed during a training exercise in Nevada are headed home.

They were loaded onto a plane Wednesday night. It took off from the airport in Reno, to take them to their homes in seven states. The marines died in an explosion at Hawthorne Army Depot. The military says it's still investigating what caused a 60-millimeter mortar system to malfunction.

Eight other people were injured in the explosion, five of them seriously and one "very seriously."
