TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Local business owners are invited to a free luncheon Monday to learn about resources available in the area.
The
University of Texas at Tyler College of Business & Technology, the
Hispanic Business Alliance and the Tyler Economic Development Council
are teaming up to offer the first East Texas Entrepreneurship Resource
Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
Jana Belzer, UT Tyler College of Business &
Technology marketing coordinator, said Dr. Harold Doty, College of
Business and Technology dean, paid for community members to have a free
lunch while listening to directors talk about the college's programs.
Presentations
will be given on the Hibbs Institute, the Center for Retail
Enterprises, the Texas Center to Advance Productivity & Performance
and the new Center for Family & Small Enterprises. They are all part
of the College of Business & Technology.
She
said the audience also will hear about Tyler Junior College's Tyler
Texas Angel Network and UT Tyler's internship program and how they can
support community businesses.
The resource fair is targeting
local business owners and those interested in their programs. Ms. Belzer
is expecting about 65 people to attend, she said on Tuesday.
She
said the first-time event came out of an alliance between Doty, Price
Arredondo, director of the Hispanic Business Alliance, and Tom Mullins,
president and chief executive officer of the Tyler Economic Development
Council. She said they hope to make it an annual event, but it depends
on the community interest.
