Gregg County jury convicts Longview man on drug charge

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A Gregg County jury convicted a Longview man Wednesday for third-degree felony drug possession, and today, it sentenced him to two years in prison.

Frederick Eugene Williams, 35, was arrested Christmas Eve by Longview police for possession less than four grams of a controlled substance in the 3000 block of Estes Parkway. He faced as many as 10 years in prison.

According to Gregg County Assistant District Attorney Chris Botto, the jury deliberated three-and-a-half hours Wednesday before finding Williams guilty. Sentencing was held today.

Williams was defended by Longview attorney Zachary Austin.
