The UT Tyler women's soccer team welcomed a new member to its squad on Thursday in 8-year-old Emma Routh. She may be a lot younger than the rest of her teammates but she has just as much energy and willpower to battle through the toughest of times.
When Emma was 3-years-old, she was diagnosed with fanconi anemia, a rare bone marrow disease that can lead to life-threatening health problems and cancer. She's undergone chemotherapy and had a bone marrow transplant in 2010.
Despite the disease, Emma keeps fighting and now she has a whole team of lady patriots right behind her, ready to fight along with her.
