Tyler Police arrest man for making false report

Tyler Police Department:

Tyler Police Investigate False Alarm – Arrest Made On March 29, 2013, at about 7:07 PM, Tyler Police Dispatchers received a 911 call reporting that the caller had observed someone drive by a house and shoot a young child.

He told dispatchers that the child was bleeding and unconscious. Tyler Police units responded to that location in emergency mode using lights and siren in an attempt to find the injured child. It was determined that the address given to the dispatcher by the caller was not the correct address. Officers looked in the area and went to several houses trying to find the injured child.

The caller then stated that he was following the suspect vehicle going east on FM 2767. Officers proceeded to that location as well. Shortly after that, the caller stated that the suspect vehicle had crashed. Officers were not able to locate that vehicle. At that point, it appeared that the caller was making a false report to the dispatcher.

Through further investigation, Tyler Police were able to locate the caller/suspect, Adam Galaz, an Hispanic male, 04/16/1981, at a house. When he was contacted it was ascertained that he was intoxicated. He subsequently confessed to the false report stating that he was trying to get his girlfriend in trouble.

Because multiple Tyler Police units had responded with lights and sirens to what was believed to be a serious offense and it was discovered that he had made up the story; he was then arrested and transported to Smith County Jail for False Alarm and for Public Intoxication.
