Longview teen caught after skipping out on court hearing

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Daquayivious Dejvan Fowlkes skipped out on his court hearing Monday afternoon, but it took Longview police less than six hours to find him.

Fowlkes, 18, of Longview, was scheduled to enter a plea in Gregg County's 124th District Court  at 3:45 p.m. Monday on his indictment for possession of a controlled substance, but he failed to appear in court.

Shortly after 9 Monday night, Longview police officer Anthony Minyard drove his patrol car through the Palace Inn parking lot in the 2100 block of East Marshall Avenue and noticed a wanted person enter one of the motel's rooms, according to an arrest affidavit. Gregg County Organized Drug Enforcement Agents were later called to the scene, after a substance believed to be crack cocaine was found in the room. One of the two men in the room was Fowlkes, who motel employees said paid for the room, records show.

Fowlkes was booked into the Gregg County Jail on $2,500 bond.
