Reports of reckless driver lead to arrest of two Kilgore men

KILGORE/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - On Monday, Kilgore police received numerous 911 calls in regards to a truck driving recklessly and striking other vehicles and property.

An officer responded to the area and observed the vehicle, which drove in behind a residence in the 300 block of Bates Street. The driver fled into the residence and, upon the officer approaching the residence, fled on foot into a creek bed behind the residence.

The officer pursued the driver into the creek bed, where he was finally apprehended after the officer deployed his taser.

The driver was identified as Travis Allen Peyton, 39, of Kilgore. Peyton was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated-3rd or more offenses, misdemeanor evading arrest and misdemeanor duty upon striking an unattended vehicle.

Peyton was booked into the Kilgore City Jail.

A person at the residence was also arrested after they attempted to interfere with police efforts to apprehend Peyton. Sylvester Jackson, 51, of Kilgore, was charged with felony hindering apprehension.

Both parties were booked into the Kilgore jail.
