UPDATE: Smith County woman dies in crash on Highway 271 North

UPDATE: Officials say the deceased person is a 40-year-old Smith County woman. Her name is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

The woman was driving a passenger car near the intersection when she apparently drove into the path of both an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck. The 18-wheeler was able to avoid a crash, but the pickup truck driver was not, officials said.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to ETMC with minor injuries and the passenger was treated on the scene and released.

 

 


UPDATE: The 2 vehicle wreck happened this afternoon on Highway 271 North, just north of County Road 353 in Smith County, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

 

 


TYLER (KYTX) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a wreck on Highway 271, according to Trooper Jean Dark.

Highway 271 north of UTHCT is closed because of the accident. Traffic is being detoured westbound on CR 353.

One person has been confirmed dead in the two-car accident where a pickup truck struck a car.
