Rain, thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow - KYTX CBS 19 Tyler Longview News Weather Sports

Rain, thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - A strong storm system is spinning over the Four Corners region of the Southwest dropping heavy snow on the Rockies and setting up the potential for severe storms over the Central and South Plains. The system will move out into the Plains Wednesday.

Arctic air is plunging southward and will bring a swift turn to colder temperatures overnight and Wednesday morning across North Texas as this system moves eastward. The cold front will generate thunderstorms ahead of it with a slight risk of severe storms in East Texas Wednesday morning and early afternoon.

It appears now that our major threat will come from hail and thunderstorm winds as the rapid movement of the cold air will limit the potential for tornadoes.

Temperatures will range from the 40s in the morning to the 60s in the afternoon through Friday before lows climb to the 50s and 60s over the weekend and highs climb to the 70s through the weekend and the low 80s early next week.

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Happy Tuesday Morning!

Mostly cloudy today with a 20% chance of afternoon/evening thunderstorms. A strong April cold front will move across East Texas tomorrow.

Highs today - unseasonably warm - near 83. Temperatures tonight will drop to 67 and only increase to around 70 tomorrow prior to the cold front arriving early tomorrow afternoon. 80% chance of rain/thunderstorms tomorrow along/ahead of the front. Temperatures will drop into the lower 60's by late afternoon.

Mostly sunny & cooler Thursday with a high of only 62. Have a great Tuesday!
