Court documents detail former JP's arrest in connection with Kaufman Co. murder case

KAUFMAN COUNTY (KYTX) -

Court documents obtained by CBS 19 say 46-year-old Eric Lyle Williams--a former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace--sent an email threatening county leaders in the aftermath of the murder of District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia.

Investigators said in an arrest warrant that Williams threatened to launch another attack if certain unspecified demands were not met.

Over the weekend investigators searched Williams' home and a storage unit. They found a white Ford Crown Victoria that matches the description of a car seen in the McLellands' neighborhood the day of the murder. They also found guns and computers that allegedly tie Williams to the email.

"[I told my son] 'this is just too much, too close,'" Williams' next door neighbor Robert Mohundro said. "[Thinking about] what all has happened to him, and what all he's lost, I said 'they're going to look at [Williams] on this.'"

In 2012 Williams stole some Kaufman County computers. He was prosecuted and convicted by McLelland and slain Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse.

Additional charges against Williams are possible but the Kaufman County Sheriff's Department says nothing else has been filed.
