We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

TYLER (KYTX) – Riding a horse around Rockin' C Ranch in Lindale is nothing new to Blanca, but it's been a while.  "My family used to own a ranch," she said from atop a horse.
But she's no longer with her family after being placed in foster care nine years ago.  She was just six at the time.

"It's been hard on me [but] it's time to let go of the past and just start on a new thing."

Ashley Gipson with Child Protective Services said, "Blanca is ready to be adopted and she came to us and said, 'I'm ready!'"

Blanca is now 15-years-old and very sociable. "I like to dance and sing, but I don't have a good voice. I like drawing, listening to music. I like doing lots of things but playing volleyball is my favorite."

This young lady has a wonderful smile and a warm, outgoing personality.  She has lots of potential that just needs to be untapped.

"When I'm done with school, I want to go straight to college and do something in Criminal Justice or be a CPS worker." Blanca goes on to say, "I just want to thank them for what they have done for me so I just want to give back and help other people."

Blanca is hoping to get the chance to start over with a forever family.  "It really doesn't matter what kind of family, just a loving and caring family."

Gipson explained, "She needs a family that's going to build her self-esteem."

And a family that will just let her enjoy being a teenager. "She actually said several times that she wants to be able to do what any typical teenager can do. She wants to hang out with her friends. She wants to go to movies. She's tired of foster care." said Gipson.

Blanca is looking forward to all the possibilities that lie ahead in the next phase of her life, but hopes she can maintain contact with her older brother.  He has already aged-out of foster care and is attending college.  It's important to Blanca that relationship continue.
