City of Tyler:

TYLER (KYTX) - The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department will place a "Little Free Library" at Southside Park as a pilot program.

The "Little Free Library" is a structure that houses a variety of free books. People of all ages are invited to take a book, read it and bring it back or share it with a friend. Participants are also encouraged to bring their favorite books to donate and share.

The Tyler Public Library has donated the initial stock of books. There are books for children, young adults and adults. The Little Library will include titles such as "Just Josie and the Perfect Day," a children's book by Emily Gale and "State of Fear," an adult book by Michael Crichton, and everything in between. As time goes on, it will contain favorite books from people all over the community.

The mission of the program is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building a free book exchange. If this pilot program is successful, the City of Tyler will look to expand the "Little Free Libraries" throughout the community.
