Lanie Zeller has lived at Hiway 80 Rescue Mission for a little over 2 weeks now.
She says when she first arrived it was tough to find an area to keep her daughter Zoey occupied. But Tuesday, that problem was solved.
"She was so excited when she came in. and saw the books and baby dolls"- Lanie Zeller, Lives in Shelter
Zoey plans to spend a lot of time in the new room.
   "24-7" - Zoey
"Not only is there this Jungle themed room for kids.. but there is also this coffee shop themed room for teens." - Kevin Boyce
Community service group Leadership Longview pioneered the project, the group started renovating the two rooms at Hiway 80 in early October, and unveiled the rooms to the kids at the shelter Tuesday.
The rooms together cost $20,000 --- money raised entirely through donations.
Project leader Russell Montgomery says the 5 month project was worth it, and the kids had a lot of input.
"We asked them what they would want as a place to just get away, and the younger kids wanted a play area and the older kids wanted a Starbucks type venue to just hangout." - Montgomery
This 13 year old teenager didn't want to be identified.
But he says he wishes he could stay in the room all the time.
"If there wasn't a bed time I could stay in here all the time, I've got coffee and an Xbox"
