Tyler (KTYX)- Tyler Junior College has added three more trees to their already massive collection in a tree dedication ceremony Wednesday afternoon.

Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass, the college president and other students gathered outside the Vaughn Library for the dedication that coincides with national arbor day celebrations.

The group sponsoring the project is the Tyler Junior College Garden Project. For the past three years, the school has held tree dedication ceremonies.

Altogether, three trees were dedicated. Two were donated to that cause by the Housing and residential life group, the third three was donated by Petty's Irrigation. Petty's Irrigation has been making donations to the school and have been in charge of many campus landscaping projects.

With the new tree additions, campus leader believe the tradition of keeping the campus beautiful will continue.

At the ceremony, Mayor Bass made and announcement of her own. She hope that projects like the tree dedication will help her along in her plan to get 5,000 trees planted by 2015.
