UPDATE: Zerga Development's plans for Parkview at Hollybrook are one of at least two such projects for senior retirement and assisted living in northeast Longview.

Developers of the Hamptons at Longview are building a senior living area with more than 200 independent and assisted living homes along an extension of Hawkins Parkway being built east of North Eastman Road.

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A McKinney developer's plan to open a 200-unit housing facility to serve seniors looking for active retirement in Longview to assisted living and memory care could get a green light toward funding tonight.

Zerga Phin-Ker LP is asking the Longview City Council for consent tonight to get as much as $40 million in public funding to build Parkview at Hollybrook, on Hollybrook Drive between Fourth Street and North Eastman Road. Zerga Development, based in McKinney, wants to borrow public money through the Red River Health Facilities Development Corp. of Windthorst. The City of Longview would not be responsible or liable for the borrowed money, but council members must provide consent that the loans can be used in the city.

According to its website phin-kerventures.com, "Parkview on Hollybrook Active Senior Retirement Community is a 137 units of pure fun and excitement for those who want to live a lot. From the beautiful woodland setting to the solid Old South Architecture, it is designed for comfort and fine living. The community center is richly appointed, the one and two-bedroom units are large and plush and the activities are constant. Full meal service will be provided."

According to its website phin-kerventures.com, "Parkview on Hollybrook Assisted Living is a 63 unit state-of-the art community offering a full range of services. Parkview will feature one and two-bedroom private and semi-private units, 20 of which are set aside for Memory Care services. Every detail, from full meal service, to daily activities, is presented in the spirit of comfort, kindness and extreme care. It will be located adjacent to the Longview Regional Medical Center in a beautiful woodland setting."

The City Council meets at 5:30 tonight at the Jo Ann Metcalf Municipal Building, at 300 W. Cotton Street in Longview.

Zerga Development has not announced a date for construction or when the housing facilities would open. The partnership handles at least five other properties in North Texas and Oklahoma.
