Kilgore Beautification Plan Passes

KILGORE (KYTX) - Babby Carroll has lived in Kilgore her entire life.
She says she loves her city but is glad the beautification plan has been approved.
"I like the plans that they have for further improvements, I think the city is doing a real good job"  Babby Carroll

Kilgore City Council approved the beautification plan Tuesday and it includes 11 initiatives, that could cost the city up to $475,000 dollars.
For residents like Milton Frazier -- he's happy to see changes.
"If you're moving forward and making your city look better, it's always a good thing. If you're not going forward you're going backwards" - Frazier

A few of the initiatives in the plan are to paint and fix up old oil pump sites, create uniform signage throughout the city and on the I20 corridor, and a litter program.
"Another one of the initiatives to tear down old, abandoned structures like the Old Dansby School which will be demolished soon." - Kevin Boyce

For Babby Carroll, she thinks the city is wise to make these efforts.
"Age will make things deteriorate, so improvement should always be on the ballot to make things look better.  That's what our tax dollars are for" - Carroll
