Beer and Wine Sales in North and West Longview

Margaret Harris lives in Northwest Longview.
She says people close to her have dealt with alcoholism and alcohol abuse, and she doesn't want alcohol sold any closer to her home.
"I am not in favor of proposition one. This city is not dry, if you want alcohol you can get it" - Margaret Harris
She received this e-mail from a member of her church trying to get her and other church members to vote no on Proposition 1.
It's one of the issues on the ballot for the May 11th election, and early voting has already begun.
The proposal  would allow convenience and grocery stores to sell beer and wine in Margaret's neighborhood.
The group leading the charge is Longview United for Growth, which had to get 9,000 plus signatures for the proposition to make it onto the ballot.
Spokesperson Kimberly Fish says it's all for the growth of Longview.
"It is to attract new grocery stores, with it being half wet and half dry... we do not have an equal playing field for economic development" - Fish
"If Proposition 1 passes, these groceries I am carrying could be filled with beer and wine." -  Kevin Boyce
"It's just the reality of our market place today, that without the ability to sell beer and wine. New grocery stores do not come into dry areas." - Fish
Margaret is still praying it doesn't pass. But isn't sure how things will play out with voters.
"If it passes it passes, we will have to learn to live with it." - Harris
