Palestine Police Department:

PALESTINE (KYTX) - Palestine Police are still piecing together all of the information in an effort to determine the exact cause of an accident that killed a man on Loop 256 and Martin Luther King Blvd.

The accident took place on the afternoon of April 26, 2013. Palestine Police have determined the direction of travel for each car involved.  Police are still looking into what caused the cars to come together at the same place in the intersection.

The collision caused the death of one person.  The police report indicates that 63-year-old Willie Torquille of Chandler died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.

Police were dispatched to a second deadly accident on April 27, 2013. Police have determined that 18-year-old Palestine resident, Nehemias Velasquez, was walking in the roadway on Crocket Rd. near Oakland St. when he was struck by a passing Chevy truck.

Fire and EMS responded to the scene to assist the victim however, Velasquez died as a result of his injuries.
Mr. Velasquez was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Carl Davis.

An autopsy was ordered by Judge Davis. The results of the autopsy are still pending.

Both accidents are still under investigation. Police do not expect to file any charges in the death of  Velasquez.
