City: Cracker Barrel coming to Longview's I-20 corridor

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - National restaurant chain Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is coming to Longview, city leaders said this morning.

The informal announcement came during a meeting of the City of Longview's Interstate 20 Development Task Force at LeTourneau University. Several task force members said they heard that Cracker Barrel was opening a restaurant along Interstate 20, and Brad Tidwell - a local banker and member of the task force - said he had "personal knowledge" that the restaurant's move to Longview was a done deal.

"There has not been an official announcement, but it's no secret," Longview City Planner Michael Shirley said. City leaders also said the restaurant has not finalized where it will locate the restaurant.

There was talk that the restaurant could move a lot on the northwest corner of the I-20/Estes Parkway interchange, but city leaders said the restaurant chain wasn't interested because the property was not "shovel ready" and had other obstacles to development.

According to its website, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. (Nasdaq: CBRL) was established in 1969 in Lebanon, Tenn. and operates 622 company-owned locations in 42 states.  Every Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® location is open seven days a week with hours Sunday through Thursday, 6 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 6 a.m. - 11 p.m.
