We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

Tyler, TX (KYTX) -- April showered the auto industry with more good news.

GM reported an 11% jump in April sales compared to the month last year, and so did Chrysler. Ford is up 18%.

It's not hard even in East Texas to find people like Steve Welch, signing on the dotted line for a new vehicle.

"It's something I need for my business, and it was time to replace what I had already used," Welch said.

He says time with his old car had run its course. "I put a lot of miles on it, and it was time to upgrade and this is a good time to do it. Some of the new models are starting to come in," Welch said.

He's not the only one walking away happy.

"In the last 90 days, I would say we're trending upwards," Monte Hall, General Manager of Hall Buick GMC in Tyler, said.

He says a certain category is booming the most for GM. "There's no question about it. Especially when it comes to pickups and crossover SUVS, that's where we see a lot of demand," Hall said.

Among the 4 largest automakers nationwide, Toyota was the only one not to report a sales gain in April compared to last year.

Hall credits a more stable economy and competitive interest rates being a low levels the past two years for the spike.
