Stolen vehicle, drugs found when two men arrested

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE NETS TWO ARREST S AND DRUGS


Two persons were arrested after a GPS hit led officers to a stolen vehicle in our city.

On Friday, May 3, 2013 just before 6:30 p.m., The Commerce Police Department received a call from a car dealership in Forney Texas.  The representative from the car dealership told dispatchers that one of the vehicles that they held a lean on had been reported stolen and had been taken in a car jacking in Garland Texas. 

A GPS hit showed that the stolen car was in the City of Commerce in the 700 block of Park Street. 

Officers were immediately dispatched to the area and were able to locate the car with a man and a woman in it.  Officers took both subjects into custody.  The woman identified, as Commerce resident Sherrie Bowen was found to be in possession of methamphetamines, prescription pills and marijuana.  The Terrell resident identified as Leslie Ellison was found to be in possession of methamphetamines.   

Both persons were transported to the Commerce Police Department for book in.  At the police department, officers found that Mr. Ellison had an escape alert from the Terrell State Hospital.  He also showed to have a Robbery warrant and 3 Burglary of a Motor Vehicle warrants out of Collin County as well as an Assault on a Public Servant warrant out of Freestone County. Mr. Ellison was charged with Theft of over $1,500 and under $20,000 and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 under 1 Gram.  Ms. Bowen has been charged with Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 under 28Grams, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 under 1 Gram.  Later the subjects were transported to The Hunt County Sheriff's Office.  Ms. Bowen is being held on a $1000 bond for the Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 under 1 Gram, $1000 bond for the Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 under 28 Grams and $500 bond.  Mr. Ellison was transported back to the Terrell State Hospital and charges will be pending.
