Firefighters come together to help support their brother.

    "Good evening Gillian, Kilgore Firefighters were equipped with hoses and water Sunday, but not to fight fire. Rather to support a brother whose wife lost her battle with cancer."  


First responders from around East Texas washing cars and raising money, for a brother in pain.
" Everybody out here has been touched by cancer in someway" - Josh McDowell,
     
    The car wash is to benefit the Baxter family. 
  Jason and Kim Baxter fought together against Kim's brain cancer, but Kim died Tuesday. Leaving Jason and their two year old daughter Gillian, without a wife and a mother.
    These firefighters say, they are coming together to carry the family through a tough time.
   
"This is Gillian and she lost her mother. Her father is like my brother and this little girl isn't going to know her mother - MCDOWELL

   Josh McDowell says they easily washed over a hundred cars, and that he hasn't had time to count  the donations. 
  "I've never met him, but I can relate. So I think it is important to show compassion." - Golden Cocharan

 For the firefighters,  they say they will continue to support Jason and Gillian as long as they need it. 
   "Jason if you're watching, we are going to be here and keep raising funds. Don't worry about work, we got it covered." - McDowell


  "The funreal was held Saturday, but the Fire Department says that Longview, Tyler, Henderson, and Sabine's Fire Departments covered Kilgore's shifts --- so they could attend. "

Abandoned stores around this neighborhood show signs of a once thriving community, and this group is hoping to attract businesses back. Their first project is repairing these entry signs.
