UPDATE: VAN (KYTX) - Van ISD no longer under low level lockdown. Local police gave the all clear there was no danger to students around noon.

Superintendent Don Dunn tells CBS 19 the lockdown didn't disrupt instruction in the classroom and classes have resumed as normal.

 


UPDATE: VAN (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - There is no word from authorities if anyone is in custody yet after the homicide on Ohio Street in Van. Some law enforcement agents were walking the area with protective vests on.

 


UPDATE: VAN (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Van authorities, along with the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, are actively working a homicide scene in Van which has caused the schools in the city to go on lockdown.

Sheriff Lindsey Ray confirmed to the Tyler Morning Telegraph that there has been a homicide on Ohio Street, but he said he was not aware of any other details at the moment.

"We got a call from the Van Police Department asking for our assistance and I am on my way to the scene. I will know more once I get there and get some information from the detectives on scene," he said.


VAN (KYTX) - According to Van ISD officials, as a precautionary measure, Van ISD has called a low level lockdown due to a report of a shooting on East Ohio Street.

 

At this time, there is no immediate threat to any specific campus. The campus will remain in this status until local authorities gives the all clear.

KYTX CBS 19 has a crew en route and will bring more updates as they become available.
