Man dies while working at asphalt company in Jacksonville

CHEROKEE COUNTY (KYTX) - A 42-year-old man was fatally injured while working in Jacksonville.

On Monday at around 10 a.m. the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department along with the Jacksonville Fire Department responded to a call in regards to a person who was injured inside a silo type structure located at the Longview Asphalt Plant in Jacksonville.

Once on the scene, emergency personnel determined that the man was deceased.

The man was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Philip Grimes at 10:45 a.m. and the next of kin was notified.

James Anthony Lucas was transported from the scene by Autry Funeral HOme to Tyler Forensics Lab in Tyler where an autopsy will be performed.

Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have been contacted as well and have also launched an investigation along with Cherokee County Sheriff's Department into the incident.
