Tyler Fire Department:

UPDATE: TYLER (KYTX) - The Tyler Fire Department responded to a two-alarm structure fire last night at 1026 Brittain Avenue. The initial call was received at 7:58 p.m. and the caller reported the house was on fire.

First arriving unit found a fully involved structure and called for a second alarm.  Nine engines and one Ladder Company, along with a District Chief and an Investigator, responded to the scene.

Occupants were at home at the time of the fire, but escaped uninjured.  The structure is considered a total loss.

Fire personnel are still on scene as of 10 a.m.  and the cause is still under investigation.

TYLER (KYTX) -- If you saw black smoke billowing into the air over Tyler Monday night it's because of a fire that destroyed a home.

Firefighters are still putting out hot spots. The fire in the 900 block of Britton Avenue near Carden Lane is under control but wood keeps igniting.

Firefighters say the couple who owns the home escaped without getting hurt. The home is a total loss.
