Jarvis College to offer free meals for kids

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Jarvis Christian College and the East Texas Food Bank have partnered to offer a healthy and fun summer to children through the Summer Food Program.

The program, which provides free breakfast and lunch to children ages 1 through 18, starts on June 10 and ends Aug. 23.

From 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, trained staff will serve free breakfast and lunch to program participants from The Grill inside the Ron Hayes Building on the Jarvis campus.

The Summer Food Program does not offer activities, but Cory Gipson, director of student activities, said Jarvis' Olympic-sized pool and weight room will be open to participants looking for more.

Lifeguards will be present at the pool and there is a small fee for use of the swimming pool and weight room. For more information call 903-730-4890, ext. 2146.
